Margot Robbie Wants Harley Quinn-Poison Ivy Romance Movie
Although Margot Robbie’s next Harley Quinn appearance in the DC Universe is yet unknown, the Oscar contender already has a vision for the future of her anti-hero: a relationship between Harley and Poison Ivy.
During her “Babylon” press tour, Robbie admitted to ComicBook.com that she has been working on the queer romance for years.
Robbie replied, “I’ve been campaigning for that for years. I cannot express to you how much I have pushed for that. I want that as well.”
When asked who she had in mind to play Poison Ivy, Robbie said, “Honestly…I always picture like Poison Ivy in the comics. It’s not something I can really envision an actress doing.”
In David Ayer’s “Suicide Squad,” Robbie made her acting debut as Harley Quinn. She later played the role in “Birds of Prey” and “The Suicide Squad.”
Given that James Gunn, who directed the actor’s “Suicide Squad,” now oversees DC Studios alongside Peter Safran, and how much Gunn openly adores the character and Robbie’s performance as her, it seems likely that Harley will make a return at some point.

The next time Harley Quinn returns to the big screen, however, she won’t be played by Robbie. The eagerly awaited “Joker” sequel, officially named “Joker: Folie à Deux,” will feature Lady Gaga opposite Joaquin Phoenix.
In October, Robbie commented about Gaga taking over the role. “It makes me so pleased because I said from the very start that all I desire is for Harley Quinn to be one of those characters the way… like Macbeth or Batman always get handed down from great actor to great actor. Someone gets to play their Macbeth or their Batman,” Robbie said.
“I feel like, in not so many cases, are there female characters — Queen Elizabeth I… which I got to have a crack at as well, which I was honored to do. I was like, ‘Wow! Cate Blanchett did Queen Elizabeth I. Now I get to,’” Robbie added.
“It’s such an honor to have built a foundation strong enough that Harley can now be one of those characters that other actors get to have a go at playing. And I think [Lady Gaga] will do something incredible with it,” Robbie continued.
